Islam and Gender politics in Iran, an academic book by Dr. Jyotika Teckchandani, explores the political system and the involvement of women in it. This book is a wonderful study material for students, and also to all the readers who would like to know about the history of Iranian politics and the role of women in it.
The primary criteria which was considered in reviewing this book was the content, organization of the chapters, references, citations, and editing errors. The content of the book is systematic and lucid. It helps us in learning the relationship between gender, nation, state and politics. Readers could also learn about the different policies which varied among the different rulers of the Islamic republic. The struggles women faced during their protests, their weaknesses and their bold ways to protest against the policies are inspiring and motivating. Every chapter gives a clear cut explanation of the subject in a simple way with proper references and citations. There wasn’t any editing errors in the chapters. The orderliness of the book confirms to an academic curriculum.
The book is completed by a neat bibliography and references making it useful for further studies in detail. There wasn’t any major shortcomings in this book. I’d like to appreciate the author for coming up with this amazing book and for her hardwork. The author has really made a huge effort in collecting the historical and political details of the Islamic women.
The author’s hardwork has really paid off and the book has come one exceptionally well.
