Focus on your own writing – Smriti Chaubey
INTERVIEW WITH SMRITI CHAUBEY
CONTRIBUTING POET OF JEREMIAD OF HEARTS
A short and sweet introduction of yourself. *
I am the daughter of strong parents who always taught me to be bold & strong. And therefore I’m a shy premature adult of 19 years. I love all forms of art and have respect for the artists. I love to spread happiness around.
When did you first start writing? *
I’ve discovered writing when I was a kid but professionally I’ve started writing two years ago .
Do you remember what you wrote first? *
How did you get interested in writing? *
Being a kid I always participated in essay competitions and used to write the content by my own on the spot. Later I started maintaining a diary and wrote kiddish rhyme poems. And now when ears fail to listen to my feelings I express them in my writing.
Who or what has been inspiration? *
I never read books before I started to write. After I finished my 4 to 5 poems I developed a habit of reading. So I can say i have myself been the inspiration to writing. And the reason behind my writing are the people who shook me with their tactics of life and my experiences.
Who are your favorite authors/poets? Why? *
Rupi Kaur is my favourite poet. The play of words she creates in her poem is breathtaking. I feel goosebumps myself after reading her poems .
How do you feel when you write? *
I feel unwind. I enjoy the moments when I rhyme the second sentence to the first one . I feel vacant for the world and worthwhile for my readers.
What are your other hobbies? *
I love singing. Singing and writing are the two boats I sail together. I even love sketching. I sketch when I have nothing to do. But I can sing and write all day long.
How did you feel when you got your selection mail? *
I felt very overwhelmed. It was a joyant moment for me where I felt blessed and simply happy about the selection.
What do you think about poetry? *
Aahhh, poetry to me is the melody that I feel in songs. Poetry is the medium through which I communicate to my readers and that’s why poetry is important as well as expressive for me.
Do you think rhymes are important for poems? Why so? *
Yes, rhymes furnish the poems with rhythm and melody. I personally feel if a poetry doesn’t has rhymes it’s not a poetry. Poetry readers are the readers who seek pleasure in poetry. So a poetry should consists of rhymes to make it a poetry.
A few words for your readers? *
I won’t say you all to live your life and all. I would just say God provides you multiple choice questions and you are freely allowed to choose your answers . So just choose your answers so well that you don’t regret later.
What do you wish to say to budding writers? *
I wish I could say this to all the writers who have just started with writing. But never mind, whoever is reading this – Don’t you guys worry about the competition besides you. Because writing doesn’t accepts that. Writing is an art form where you express yourself and impress your readers, that’s it. Every human is blessed with a different creative brain. So just focus on your own writing and not on the competition.
